Our current project at Inn Serendipity involves the conversion of an old granary/corn crib into an active solar heated straw bale greenhouse that we've used in the past to grow papayas and other tropicals; it's currently used for starting transplants in the spring and curing garlic and onions. Inn Serendipity WOODS Cabin outside Hillsboro, WI (in Vernon County about two hours northwest of the B&B in Browntown, Wisconsin) Our conservation and environmental stewardship efforts have led us to Inn Serendipity Woods, an evolving 30-acre wildlife sanctuary and rural cabin located near Hillsboro, Wisconsin, in Vernon County (it's 2.5 hours away from the B&B). Located within an hour's drive of the famous Elroy to Sparta bike trail and Wisconsin's most crooked river, the Kickapoo, the cabin is ideal for families, a small group or a couple looking for a private getaway in nature. The 2.28 kW PV system at the cabin produces more electricity than is used annually. Available for rental from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Six weeks advance booking required.
